ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 21 Sewanee. The Panthers were playing a top-25 team for the second day in a row.
Chapman lost to Bowdoin 7-0 on Wednesday and returned to the Anderson Tennis Courts a day later to take on the No. 21 Tigers.
Chapman duo James Krantz and Ian Jordan captured a 6-3 doubles victory but the Panthers fell 6-3 in the other two matches to drop the doubles point.
Krantz went on to grab Chapman's only point with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 2 singles match. Jordan was in the middle of his third set and Aram Izmirian was in a second set tiebreaker when Sewanee clinched the match. Once clinched, the match was concluded due to high temperatures.
The Panthers head into the SCIAC half of a four-day stretch with a 3 p.m. match against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday. Chapman will conclude the stretch with a trip to Caltech on Saturday.
