ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman men's tennis team dropped its SCIAC-opener 5-2 to Pomona-Pitzer on Friday. James Krantz stayed on a roll with wins at singles and doubles.
Krantz and Ian Jordan teamed up for a 6-1 win in the middle doubles match but Pomona-Pitzer claimed the doubles point with wins in the other two matches.
The Panthers pushed the Sagehens in singles with Krantz capturing a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win and Matthew Dewey winning 6-2, 6-1. The matches at the top and bottom of the lineup also stayed close throughout but ultimately the Sagehens came away with 6-4, 6-4 victories in both to clinch the match.
Chapman heads out on the road for the first time this year to take on Caltech on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the fourth match in four days.
