ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team opened the dual season with a 7-0 sweep of Ottawa University (Ariz.) on Thursday. The Panthers won every singles match in straight sets.
Chapman won eight of the nine matches over OUAZ to take the match 7-0. The Panther duos of Matthew Dewey – Ian Jordan and Lachlan Dickinson – James Krantz each won 6-1 before the Spirit's top doubles team took a close 6-4 match.
With the doubles point in hand, Chapman cruised to the team victory as the Panthers won every match in straight sets. Jordan clinched the No. 4 match in a tiebreaker and Aram Izmirian took the match at the top of the singles lineup 6-1, 6-3.
The Panthers face another foe from Arizona as they take on Arizona Christian at 3 p.m. on Friday.
