RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Freshman Kendrick Tan finished second overall as the Chapman University men's golf team teed off on its spring season at the West Coast Classic. The Panthers finished sixth out of 15 as a team and were the third in the standings amongst all seven SCIAC teams.
Tran was under par on both days to finish three-under for the tournament with a 141. He was one of just four golfers out of 87 to finish under par for the tournament and joined CMS' Samson Li as the only golfer to finish both rounds under par.
As a team, the Panthers were slightly better in the second round with a 302 (+14). Their second day total shaved three strokes off their first round score and leapfrogged Cal Lutheran in the team standings.
Conner Conley finished in 16th with a consistent 75 (+3) on both days. Tyler Lao, competing as a n individual, had the best round of his career on the second day with a three-over 75.
The Panthers head to Olivas Links in Ventura, Calif. for SCIAC #1 on Feb. 21-22.
