ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman Athletics is saddened to announce the sudden passing of track & field assistant coach Greg Stull on Sunday. Our deepest condolences are with his family and friends as well as with the coaches and student-athletes of our track & field program.
Coach Stull joined the track & field program at Chapman prior to the 2023 season and made an immediate impact with the pole vaulters. Jesse McMillan has qualified for the NCAA Division III track & field championships in each season with Stull as his coach, reaching the podium as the national runner-up at the Indoor Championships in March.
An Orange County native, Coach Stull was a highly successful pole vaulter at the high school and college levels before becoming a highly successful pole vaulting coach. He has coached numerous athletes to CIF titles before coming to Chapman and leading McMillan to be the best pole vaulter in Chapman history.
He was the first CIF state champion pole vaulter to also coach an athlete in the state championships. He was a recipient of UCLA's Ron Copeland Memorial Outstanding Performance of the Year in 1984 as well as the Ron McNulty Excellence in Coaching Award from United States Soccer Federation in 2008.
Greg is survived by his wife, Theresa, and his children Kevin, Cory and Michael.
