Monterey Park, Calif.— Swim and Dive left their mark on SCIACs 2025. Plain and simple.
The fourth and final day of the championship meet was a moment of exhilileration and exhale as senior stars
Simon Jacobs and
Kiana Tanizaki-Hudson took over during the last conference event of their college careers.
Tanizaki-Hudson did as she as she does: exuded greatness. In the 200 yard butterfly final, she placed second earning All-SCIAC honors with a time of 2:02.73. It was her final individual conference event of college. Jacobs also did as he does exuding greatness in his own right. The sprinter placed second in the 100 freestyle, earning All-SCIAC honors yet again with a time of 44.83. In the preliminary round of the same event, Jacobs earned a new school record going 44.54. By week's end, he landed on the podium seven times earning seven All-SCIAC finishes.
In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the high tops earned a spot on the podium yet again. Jacobs,
Riley Coleman,
Max Polovinkin and
Trent Calloway placed third with a time of 3:02.60 earning them All-SCIAC honors once again. This relay team has now earned All-SCIAC honors across the 200 and 400 relays. On the high tops sides, the team of
Tatum Chambers,
Alyssa Kooy,
Megan Lei and
Avery Hall placed fourth with a time of 3:31.42.
Freshman
Cora Buelow also jumped in on the final day fast swimming, earning a new school record in the women's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.26. Buelow placed sixth in the final with a time of 2:05.26. Beyond that, fellow freshman
Ryan Musich placed fifth in the men's 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:17.97.
Overall, the the high top and low top Panthers finished in third place on the men's and women's sides of the competition. The high tops scored 442.5 points, while the low tops wracked up 497 points. 2025 SCIACs proved to be another year of growth under head coach
Juliet Suess and company. But, before the 2024-25 season wraps, NCAA regional and national competitions await.
