Swim & Dive sets 10 program records at Winter Invite

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Chapman Swim & Dive set 10 program records and had 79 total top 10 finishes at their biggest meet for the season ahead of SCIACs: The Winter Invite. The team traveled out to East Los Angeles Community College for the three day marathon of a meet. 

Breakout star sophomore Alyssa Kooy led the way for the Panthers breaking two program records in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. In the 50 free, Kooy went a 23.75 and in the 100 free, she went a 52.03. She placed at the top of the SCIAC in both races against Division II and III schools from all over the country. 

On the low tops side, James Galligan, Max Polovinkin and Dean Koenders all broke program records. Koenders broke the 100 yard individual medley going a 52.94, Polovinkin broke the 200 yard breaststroke going a 2:02.18 and Galligan broke the 100 yard breaststroke going a 56.33. 

The Panthers also had 44 personal records across high tops and low tops throughout the three day competition. 

On the diving end in the one meter, Reid Omilian had 280.60 points finishing in second, while his teammate Aidan Trautwein had 264.85 points placed behind him in third. In the three meter, Omilian placed in the top 10 and second in the conference scoring 259.65 points. Jake Randazzo finished directly behind him by just one tenth of a point scoring 259.55 points. 

Chapman will now look to build off their performances, as they look ahead to the SCIAC Meet in February, with two other duel meets happening ahead of then.
