ORANGE, Calif.
— Chapman women's basketball started off the 2025-26 season in dominant fashion defeating Pacific Lutheran at home 93-47 Monday afternoon. The Panthers placed their stamp on the game, outscoring the Lutes 29-10 in the third quarter. Chapman poured on, knocking down seven threes while holding Pacific Lutheran to just 23 percent from beyond the arc.
2025 All-SCIAC player and junior forward
Layla Woods picked up where she left off in 2025, netting 21 points, grabbing eight rebounds and tallying three assists. Woods left her mark on every aspect of the game and fueled the Panthers to pull away big in that third quarter.
Junior guard
Maile Nakaji followed up with another 16 points off the bench. The sharpshooter went a blistering 4/4 from behind the arc while pouring on an additional two assists and two boards. Newcomer
Hanna Harvey played just nine minutes and had an efficient 11 points along with five rebounds.
The Panthers had 42 rebounds, out rebounding the Lutes by 11 boards. The Panthers return to play at home against George Fox University on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 PM.
