ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Cal Lutheran in its return to Wilson Field on Wednesday. Both goals came in the second half as the Panthers dropped to 1-6-1 and 0-3 in the SCIAC.
The Panthers' slide continued despite a promising first half. Chapman created chances and fired off nine shots but could not find the back of the net. Chapman outshot Cal Lutheran 19-12 in the match and put eight shots on goal but Gen Katashiba made eight saves to keep the Panthers off the board.
Jackson Endsley scored the game-winner in the 67th minute and assisted on the insurance goal just three minutes later to lead the Kingsmen to the win. Both goals came on breakaways that left a Cal Lutheran forward 1-on-1 with Alex Glynn.
Glynn made three saves for Chapman, including a stop on a third breakaway. Garrett Lindfelt took five of Chapman's shots and put three on frame.
The Panthers stay home for the week and will kick off a Chapman Pomona-Pitzer soccer doubleheader at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
