ORANGE, Calif. – A tournament spot was clinched as the Chapman University women's lacrosse team defeated Cal Lutheran 19-9 on Wednesday on Wilson Field. The Panthers improved to 8-2 on the year and 6-2 in the SCIAC while staying perfect at home.
With the win, the Panthers also locked in their spot in the SCIAC Tournament. Chapman currently sits in third in the SCIAC standings.
Ada Carr led the Panthers to the victory with a nine-point night. She scored five goals and assisted on four more to equal the school record set by Lyndsey Huss against Edgewood. Tade Scheid also had a big night with four goals and two assists while Olivia Holmes scored four times and tallied one assist.
Anna Hereu made 10 saves while allowing just nine goals, making four in the third quarter as Chapman pulled away. Annika Carlson picked up five draw controls.
The Panthers never trailed as they scored the first three goals of the match and pulled away in the third quarter. After leading 10-5 at halftime, Chapman outscored Cal Lutheran 6-1 in the third to push the lead into double digits.
Chapman remains at home on Saturday to take on SCIAC-leading Pomona-Pitzer at 11 a.m.
