ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought matchup with No. 27 Mary Washington, 6-3. The Panthers suffered their first dual loss but have played top-30 teams in each of their first two matches.

Chapman took an early 3-1 lead in the match but the Eagles were able to capture five of the six singles matches to earn the team win. The Panthers took  two of three tightly contested doubles matches, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 in the lineup.

Lachlan Dickinson and Ben Jorgenson took an 8-5 victory at No. 3 with Aram Izmirian and Kameron DeHart winning 8-7 at No. 2. After a close loss in his doubles match, Caleb Wilkins made quick work at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over a ranked opponent.

Mary Washington went one to win the next five singles matches. Both Izmirian and Andy Hess took the opening set of their respective singles matches but fell in three-set battles at No. 2 and No. 3.

The Panthers are back at the Anderson Tennis Center on Saturday to take on Vassar at 11 a.m.
