Women's basketball falls at home to TCNJ

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's basketball team fell 78-61 to visiting TCNJ on Wednesday. In a midweek matinee, the Panthers went up early but the Lions' strong second half propelled them to the victory.

Chapman built a 10-point lead through the first quarter but saw that erased and surpassed in the second quarter as TCNJ caught a rhythm, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor while holding Chapman to less than 40 percent shooting.

The Lions get momentum and the advantage through the rest of the game and knocked down some late free throws to extend their lead out to the 18-point margin.

Layla Woods had 20 points and 15 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double. Maile Nakaji scored 13 points, hooting 3-for-10 from three-point range. The rest of the team combined to shoot 1-for-10 the three-point distance. Shanna Brown had 13 points off the bench.

The Panthers head into the holiday break but return to the Hutton Center floor on Dec. 28 to host Brooklyn College at 4 p.m.
