ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman (12-14, 7-8) faced off against Whittier (18-7, 10-4) in their regular season finale at home, where the Panthers los the match 3-1.
In the opening set, Chapman won 25-23 where the Panthers earned 13 kills to clinch the narrow victory. Throughout the evening,
Olivia Sampson and
Olivia Harrison recorded a total of 24 kills combined to lead the Panthers.
In the second set, Chapman narrowly lost by just two points, pushing Whittier to the limit. With the Panthers trailing 24-21 at the end of the of that second set, Chapman went on a run to tie the set up at 24 all forcing Whittier to go into extra points to clinch the competitive victory.
The Panthers also managed to fight hard in the third set, but ended up falling 25-20. Harrison recorded four kills to keep the Panthers close.
Annika Rudd kept up the momentum defensively with three blocks, while
Brooke Leslie had four aces to carry the team offensively. The Panthers eventually fell in the fourth set to conclude their final home match of the 2024 season.
Chapman will wrap up the regular season as they travel to Cal Lutheran to play their regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 9.
