Men's water polo drops tight battle with Redlands

ORANGE, Calif. – The men's water polo team fell 11-9 to visiting Redlands in a close battle through all four quarters. The Panthers faced a tough stretch through the third and early fourth quarters as the Bulldogs pulled away.

Daniel Franks scored three goals to lead the Panthers and Jackson Sanders made 11 saves in goal to keep Chapman in the game. However, Roberto Barrera made 16 saves for the Bulldogs to keep them in front.

The Panthers and Bulldogs traded the first eight goals of the match but it was Redlands with a goal in the final minute of the second quarter that gave them a 5-4 lead at halftime. Although both goalies proved to be tough to get past, Redlands scored four of the first five goals in the second half to build a 9-5 by the midway point of the fourth quarter.

Chapman was unable to rebound despite scoring four late goals to inch closer.

Everett Prussak and Christian Gotterup both scored a pair of goals for Chapman while Davin Castillo had three assists.

Chapman returns home on Saturday to take on Pomona-Pitzer at 11 a.m.
