ORANGE, Calif. – Nate Randolph scored six times and Everett Prussak scored five more as the Chapman University men's water polo team defeated visiting Whittier, 18-14. The Panthers used a strong second half to pull away for the big SCIAC win.
Chapman outscored Whittier 10-3 in the second half to over come a three-goal halftime deficit. The Panthers scored the first four goals of the third quarter to take a 12-11 lead and held a 13-12 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Whittier scored the first goal of the fourth to tie up the game at 13-13 but Nate Randolph responded for Chapman to retake the lead, which the Panthers never gave up again.
Davin Castilo contributed to the comeback with all three of his goals in the second half while Christian Gotterup also scored both of his goals in the second half to help the Panthers jump out in front.
Jackson Sanders made several huge stops down the stretch, including saving a 5-meter shot in the third quarter, to support the comeback effort. He made 15 saves in total and came away with one steal.
The Panthers stay at home to take on La Verne on Saturday at 11 a.m.
