ORANGE, Calif. — A strong defensive performance backed by 18 steals and 34 forced turnovers helped women's basketball to a convincing 75-58 win over Benedictine (Ill.) to start a three-day stretch of games entering the holiday break.
Shanna Brown put up the best showing of her young career, notching 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Layla Woods and Kali Cajala were the only other Panthers in double-figure point totals – Woods finished with 14 and Cajala tallied 10.
Maile Nakaji was a nuisance all over the floor, collecting five steals while also adding a pair of offensive rebounds.Â
Chapman's bench helped to the victory, outsourcing the Benedictine reserves 35-18. The Panthers also dominated in the paint at a +16 clip.
The Panthers, now 4-3 on the season, return to Hutton tomorrow evening to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 5 p.m.
