Chapman University

Scott Wilford joined the Chapman University football coaching staff in 2022 as the Offensive Line Coach, bringing decades of playing and coaching experience throughout Southern California and an extensive track record of developing offensive linemen.

Since Wilford’s arrival, Chapman has established itself as the premier offensive unit in the SCIAC. From 2022 through 2025, the Panthers finished No. 1 in the SCIAC in total offense and scoring offense in four consecutive seasons. Over that same four-year stretch, Chapman also ranked No. 1 in the conference in rushing yards per game overall, averaging nearly 180 yards per contest on the ground.

The Panthers’ offensive success has been matched by individual recognition, as Wilford’s tenure has helped produce numerous All-SCIAC and All-Region selections. His offensive lines have played a critical role in establishing Chapman as one of the conference’s most consistent and productive offenses, combining physicality in the run game with outstanding protection in one of the SCIAC’s top offensive attacks.

Wilford played collegiately at Fullerton College and Azusa Pacific University before beginning an extensive coaching career in Southern California. He returned to his alma mater, Los Alamitos High School, as a coach before making stops at Fountain Valley High School and Golden West College. Wilford also coached at Laguna Hills High School and spent nine seasons at Saddleback College over three separate stints.

Throughout his career, Wilford has built a reputation as an accomplished offensive line coach and developer of talent, emphasizing toughness, technique, physicality and a relentless standard of play in the trenches. His experience and leadership have been instrumental in helping Chapman consistently field one of the most productive offensive units in the SCIAC.
