ORANGE, Calif. — Jason Bruce and Tyler Boynton from Chapman Football have been named SCIAC Athletes of the Week. Bruce earned the nod for specials team while Boynton earned it for the defensive side. The duo helped lead Chapman to a 24-21 victory over No. 19 Linfield.

Boynton is a junior defensive lineman who recorded two sacks and three total tackles in Saturday's win. Early on in the third, he had a strip sack resulted in a and a fumble recovery in the red zone for Chapman. The Panthers went on to score on the very next play to stretch their lead to 21-14. 

Bruce is a senior who made his season debut and first career appearance since Sept. 2025,where he last appeared in a road game at Linfield. The starting wide receiver blocked a punt early on in Saturday's game and grabbed the ball out of mid-air to score a touchdown. Following the aforementioned sack, Bruce also caught a pass in the red zone and scored his second touchdown of the day. He came away with 85 passing yards, and the two touchdowns scored.
