ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Cal Lutheran in its first SCIAC match of the season. The match came down to a pair of singles matches in the third set.
Chapman struck first by capturing the doubles point. Lucy Wallin and Chloe McBride won the middle match 6-4 while Jaya Manhas and Sofiya Khegay grabbed a 6-3 win at the bottom of the lineup.
Malina Dahms went on to wn in a first set tiebreaker in the to capture the point in the No. 5 match but the Regals won in straight set on courts one, two and six.
With the matches in court three and court four heading into a third set, the Regals captured the clinching point on court four before Makaylee Dahms outlasted her opponent for a three-set victory.
The Panthers are set to take on UC Santa Cruz on Thursday at 2 p.m. before heading out on the road for a pair og away SCIAC matches.
