ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell for the first time this season, 6-1 to Westmont. Aram Izmirian claimed a pair of victories in the match.
Izmirian was part of both Chapman wins in the match against Westmont. He first teamed up with Ben Jorgenson to win the match at the top of the doubles lineup 6-3 After splittlng his first two sets in the top singles match, he outlasted his opponent in a lengthy tiebreaker to capture Chapman's only point. Izmirian won 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (13-11).
The Panthers dropped four of the six singles matches in straight sets after dropping both other doubles matches to miss out on the double point. Ian Jordan pushed his singles match into a third set before falling 10-4 in the tiebreaking third.
Chapman heads up to Caltech after a short break in the schedule. Chapman and Caltech meet on Mar. 7 in the first SCIAC match of the season.
