Orange, Calif. — Chapman baseball played their third game in 24 hours Sunday morning against Puget Sound, and showed glimpses of greatness throughout the game, before being edged out 6-5 in front of the home crowd.
The Panthers had the lead from the bottom of the fifth inning all the way to the top of the seventh 5-2. A few walks and an error allowed Puget Sound to gain back control they would never relinquish.
Keegan Goodard and
Sloan Steimel led the way for the Panthers offensively, getting two hits and an RBI each. Defensively,
Ryan Iveson,
Finean Hunter-Kenney and
Matthew Kuromoto led the way pitching two innings each. Between all three, they gave up just six hits in total.
Chapman will look to bounce back as they gear up to face off against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at Hart Park to begin their second SCIAC series of the season.
