Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pugh and Bradbury Shine in back-to-back games

ORANGE, Calif. — Ava Bradbury and Sasha Pugh led the way for the Panthers in back-to-back games Saturday against Whittier and Azusa Pacific. The middles duo have become a two-headed monster throughout conference play. Despite best efforts, Chapman got swept 3-0 in both games. But, the dynamic duo showed flashes of their potential.

The Panther hosted SCIAC newcomer APU at home, in a game where Pugh had 14 kills and Bradbury had 11. Defensively, the two once again shined getting a combined 12 blocks. Bradbury had seven and Pugh followed up with five of her own. Junior outside Aaliyah Edwards also recorded five blocks. This game did not count towards conference records as Azusa Pacific continues to transition fully to a Division III program.

Against Whittier, the Panthers showed flashes yet again. Chapman took the first set all the way to extra points, before Whittier pulled away to win 27-25. Senior libero Clara Cronin had a game high 16 digs while Pugh shined yet again, with 10 kills and three blocks. Bradbury had two blocks, while fellow junior Kelsey Magley had 13 assists. Despite being against a SCIAC team, this game did not count towards Chapman's conference record due to scheduling.

Chapman jump back into SCIAC play as they head on the road to play Caltech on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
