Makena Nitao added another 16 points to go along with knocking down six free throws. Starting guard
Maile Nakaji added another nine points and nine boards.
The Panthers struggled from behind-the-arc on the night, but went into halftime down just 39-35. They grabbed 40 rebounds and forced 14 Occidental turnovers to go along with netting 15 points off those turnovers.
Occidental's Paige Yasukochi went for 22 points, but Chapman managed to keep the guard/forward to just eight in the second half.
Chapman remains in the hunt for a SCIAC Tournament birth as they sit in fourth place at 4-4 in the conference and 9-6 overall. The Panthers will look to get back on track on Saturday, Jan. 24 as they hit the road to play at La Verne.
