ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's basketball team had 11 different players score in an 85-58 victory over Caltech. The Panthers improved to 9-1 at home with the victory.
The teams went back and forth for most of the first quarter as Chapman led 13-12 with just over one minute left in the opening quarter. Chapman went on to score the last five points of the first and the first five points of the second to open an 11-point lead with four different players scoring the four baskets.
The hot start to the second quarter didn't stop as Chapman shot 12-for-13 in the quarter, including a 6-for-6 quarter from three-point range. The Panthers scored 34 points in the second quarter while holding Caltech to 12 to take a 52-24 lead into halftime.
The lead grew to as much as 34 points as Chapman cruised through the second half to the victory. The Panthers shot 59.6 percent in the game. Layla Woods led the way with 14 points in just 13 minutes. Sydney Teoh added a career-high 13 points off the bench.
Kira Watanabe had eight points and five assists while Emerson Ludwick came off the bench grab seven rebounds and score six points.
The Panthers head to Cal Lutheran for a 4 p.m. game on Monday before returning home on Wednesday to take on Occidental at 7 p.m.
