ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman men's water polo dominated their first SCAIC home game defeating Caltech 21-7. The Panthers out shot the Beavers 37-29. Chapman had a total of 21 goals from 18 different players, proving teamwork and depth from the entire team.
Offensively, the Panthers put in the work, closing out the first half with a score of 11-2. Freshman River Lyon, junior Davin Castillo, and senior Luke Stiebel chipped in two goals each. During the game, the Panthers had multiple newcomers net goals including Boston Fisher, Isaac Solberg, Aka Pietsch, Rylind Butler and Weston Hamson.
Defensively, the Panthers stood their ground with backup goalies Alex Cacos and Oliver Chelsom in net. Cacos
and Chelsom
came up with four saves each, stopping a total of eight Caltech
shots on goal.
Chapman will look to carry their momentum into Wednesday's game on the road at Redlands University on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
