Box Score ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman baseball defeated Caltech at home 3-0 as the Friday starter Henry Chabot pitched a complete game shut out.

In the first inning, Josh Phillips hit a home run bomb outside the park to give him his 34th career home run, the most in Chapman baseball history. In the sixth inning, Nate Jensen also jumped the home run club hitting a bomb over the fence to give the Panther the 3-0 lead they would never relinquish.

On the mound, Chabot dominated yet again, striking out 10 batters while giving up just three hits. The junior threw 102 pitches throughout the nine inning defensive on-slot. In turn, Chabot picked up his fifth win of the season and continues a season where he has an earned run average (ERA) of just 2.84.

Offensively, left fielder Blake Beckley also sprinted home off a Matt Cristol single up the middle in the third inning. Beckley recorded a run batted in (RBI) and the designated hitter, Cristol recorded his 22nd hit of the season. The junior began coming on strong at the end of March and became one of the Panther's most consistent batters the last six weeks, recording 21 of his 22 hits since Mar. 29 alone.

The Panthers have now officially closed out their regular season at home, and will continue their final series of the season at Caltech on Saturday, May 3 playing a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
