ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team dropped a SCIAC match 5-2 to visiting Occidental on Tuesday. With the last two matches going into a third set, the Panthers dropped their fourth close match of the SCIAC season.
A season full of tight matches saw another one go down to the wire as the Panthers challenged Occidental in the final singles matches. With Chapman trailing 3-2, both Alexis Golin and Lucy Erickson went into a third set on courts one and four. The Tigers were able to clinch the team victory with a tiebreak win at No. 4 and a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No.1.
Chloe McBride won her third match in a row in the No. 5 slot in the lineup. McBride improved to a team-best 8-5 on the season. She took a straight set victory 6-3, 6-3. Sydney La captured Chapman's other point with a straight set win at No. 3.
The senior duo of Erickson and Brooke Waite earned the doubles win with a 6-4 win at No. 3Â but Oxy won the other two matches to take the double point.
The Panthers wrap up the 2025 season on Saturday when they take on No. 2 CMS at 11 a.m.
