3/7/2025 12:20:00 PM

Box Score ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman Baseball hosted the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Friday afternoon where they took home the victory 4-3 over the Engineers.

Chapman starting pitcher Henry Chabot absolutely dominated with 12 strikeouts in seven innings of play. The star threw 109 pitches on the day and managed to bail the Panthers out of many tough situations with multiple MIT runners in scoring position. Freshman pitcher Jake Fields then came in as reliever to close out the massive victory for the Panthers.

The young team is looking to turn a new page as they started off their young season 1-8 coming into Friday's victory. Josh Phillips managed to get Chapman on the board first early on in the second inning off a pass ball by MIT.

Late in the game, the Engineers began building back up momentum taking a 3-2 lead heading into the eighth inning. Then, Blake Beckley, Joey Capobianco and Matt Campopiano went to work. Campopiano hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field. With the other two on base, Capobianco managed to run all the way home for the game winning score.

The Panthers will look to continue building their momentum as they host University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Hart Park.
