ORANGE, Calif. – A back and forth battle ended with the a tough 11-10 for the Chapman University women's lacrosse team. The Panthers fell to Oberlin on Tuesday afternoon.
Ella Seidel scored four goals while Ada Carr and Lyndsey Huss each added hat tricks to lead the Panthers offensively. Huss also had a pair of assists.
The Panthers fell behind 7-4 in the first half but out scored Oberlin 5-1 in the third quarter to take the 9-8 lead. Seidel scored the g-ahead goal in the third and Huss took advantage of a player-up opportunity to put Chapman up 10-8 with 13:30 to go in the fourth.
Oberlin stormed back and held Chapman scoreless the rest of the way while scoring three goals in the final eight minutes to take the win. Kylie Thompson converted a free position shot to give Oberlin the lead with just under three minutes to go.
The Panthers' lost the ensuing draw but Brooklyn Price caused a turnover with about two minutes left to give the Panthers one last chance to tie the game/ A shot in the final minutes was saved in the final minute as Oberlin held on for the win.
Ilana Touger made seven saves in goal while Emily Berger made 12 saves for Oberlin.
The Panthers head to Colorado for a pair of matches this weekend against Colorado College on Thursday and St. Benedict's on Saturday.
