ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman Women's water polo (6-9) pulled off a close win over Macalester (6-5) 16-13 at home Friday evening. Attacker
Alyssa Fricker led the way early, scoring the Panthers' first five goals while wracking up six total for the game. The senior also poured on three steals and three assists.
Riley Eaves and
Kendall Pappan took over in the second game, as Eaves earned a hat trick with three goals to go along with two assists, a steal and two earned ejections. Pappan added two goals, an assist and five earned ejections.
The rest of Chapman followed suit, as six different players scored including: Fricker, Pappan, Eaves,
Meg Peters (2),
Annie Nadolski (2) and
Nina Bastick (1). The Panthers also notched 13 assists on those 16 goals.
Defensively, freshman goalie
Katrina McCay recorded the first start of her career. McCay had 11 blocks playing the entire game, more than living up expectations in her career debut.
Chapman will look to continue their momentum as they head on the road to play a conference game at Redlands on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 11:00 a.m. PT.
