ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman women's water polo fell 15-7 at home to defending national champion Pomona-Pitzer. Despite that, the Panthers had seven different athletes score while goalkeeper
Zoey Francis held her own.
Francis had 17 blocks and two steals in roughly three and a half quarters of play. Offensively, seven different Panthers scored one goal each including:
Alyssa Fricker,
Meg Peters,
Jamie Chin,
Demi Ovalle,
Nicole Inoue and
Nina Bastick.
Pomona-Pitzer's Lulu Gaither and Lisbon Zeigler led the Sagehens with three goals each to be the game's leading scorers. Starting goalkeeper Zosia Amberger also tallied 13 saves in 24 minutes of play. Nine different players on Pomona-Pitzer netted goals on 41 total shot attempts.
Prior to the start of Saturday's contest, Fricker was honored for becoming the program's all-time leading scorer. Her Chapman teammates gave her a special signed ball as her family joined her on deck to a standing ovation.
The Panthers will look to bounce back as they head back on the road to play against Occidental College on Wednesday, Mar. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
