ORANGE, Calif. – The season came to an end for the Chapman University women's basketball team with an 83-69 loss to second-seeded Cal Lutheran in the SCIAC Tournament Semifinal. Chapman ends the season 12-14 overall.
Shanna Brown scored 28 points off the bench to lead the Panthers and also grabbed 11 rebounds to end her sophomore campaign with a double-double. Layla Woods scored 14 points and Kira Watanabe scored 13 for the Panthers.
The Regals scored at least 20 points in every quarter and shot 50 percent as a team. The Regals also scored 48 points in the paint to key the victory.
The Panthers shot just 39.7 percent on the night and made 5-of-16 three-pointers.
The Regals opened up an early lead but the Panthers fought back in the first quarter to trail by just two at the first break. Cal Lutheran pulled away in the second with a 20-11 advantage and was able to hold off the Panthers through the second half to pave the way to the tournament final.
The Panthers finished the season 12-14 overall but finished third in the SCIAC with a 9-7 record.
