Orange, Calif.—
Jake Heberle (26),
Blakeley Stoughton (13) and
Adam Damian (11) combined together for 50 points on the evening. Unfortunately, it was not enough as Chapman fell 72-61 against Whittier at home. The Panthers held strong in the first half, leading by five going into halftime 35-30.
Heberle had six made 3-pointers for 21 points from behind-the-arc alone. Stoughton had 11 total rebounds, five of which were offensive boards. The one-two punch created multiple opportunities on extended possessions and knocked down clutch shots down the stretch.
The second half was a knock down drag out fight between the two teams exchanging buckets down the stretch. Heberle, Stoughton and Damian knocked down big shot after big shot to keep the Panthers within striking distance. The team also caused 10 turnovers and scored 10 points off them.
Chapman will look to bounce back next Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Redlands at 7:00 p.m. as the SCIAC tournament looms and the program still has lots to prove.
