ORANGE, Calif — Chapman men's basketball competed hard with Pomona-Pitzer coming out with a 80-68 win. A game that saw only four lead changes, the Panthers managed to stay ahead. Chapman kept control of the game from beginning to end, leading by as much as 13 points in the first half and almost 20 overall.
Senior
Cruz Billings made a key buzzer beater three-pointer giving Chapman the lead 50-37 heading into halftime. Billings finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists.
Jake Heberle added 25 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore
Dylan Mansour put up a season high 11 points.
Chapman out rebounded the Sagehens 42-31. The Panther bench also dominated putting up 27 points while keeping Pomona-Pitzer's bench to just 17 points.
The Panthers also controlled the entire game leading by as many as 17 points 56-39 midway through the second half. Meanwhile, Pomona-Pitzer's largest lead was 16-15 early in the first half.
Chapman went on a 8-0 run with just under six minutes to play to solidify the victory. The Panthers have won three of their last four games including starting off 2-0 in SCIAC play.
The Panthers will look to keep their winning momentum when they host UC Santa Cruz at home on Monday Dec. 15.
