ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman women's basketball narrowly fell 49-41 at home Friday evening of the holiday weekend. 

The Panthers struggled shooting just 26.2 percent from the field, but managed to keep the game within single digits all four quarters. They held Puget Sound to just 33 percent shooting in the fourth quarter and managed to cause Puget Sound to commit 23 turnovers. 

Layla Woods and Maile Nakaji led the way for the Panthers with a combined 21 points on the day. The Panthers also collected 15 offensive rebounds and 34 rebounds total. Nakaji led the way as the sixth player off the bench that put away 22 total points. 

Chapman kept the game close the whole way, recording 14 total steals while Puget Sound recorded just four total. The Panthers will look to bounce back as they gear up to play their conference opener at Redlands on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
