Volleyball falls to CMS at home

ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman Volleyball fell to SCIAC opponent Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Tuesday evening 3-1, after roaring back to win the opening set 25-23. CMS won the following three sets 25-21, 25-18 and 25-14.

In the first set, the Panthers found themselves down 11-4 early, then Chapman came alive. Olivia Harrison and Brooke Leslie led the ferocious come back exchanging aces and kills. Eventually, the Panthers took the first set off a blocking error by CMS.

The remaining three sets, Chapman had no answers for CMS attacker Brooke Mckee who finished the evening with 19 kills. On the other end, Harrison held her own with 14 kills while Olivia Sampson and Leslie combined for another 21 kills. Sophomore Ava Bradbury had a team leading four blocks and Lia Ono had a team leading 25 digs.

Chapman sits at 7-7 overall and 2-3 in SCIAC play. They are fifth overall in the conference as they prepare to bounce back for two more conference games later in the week. The Panthers will play at Cal Lutheran on Friday, Oct. 10 and home against Caltech on Saturday, Oct. 11.
