Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Gabrielle Ducharme

Chapman dominates Penn State Behrend and Fresno Pacific at home

ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman men's waterpolo started off day one of the 2025 Gary Troyer tournament defeating Penn State Behrend 22-8 and finished it out defeating Division II Fresno Pacific 13-9 . Against PSU Behrend, Freshmen Rylan Takahashi and Boston Fisher along with junior Davin Castillo and senior Nathan Jones all led the way for the Panthers.

Takahashi netted three goals to go along with two assists and had four earned ejections on the afternoon. Fisher had a career high three goals and one steal. The 2025 ACWPC All-American, Castillo, had another two goals, an assist and four steals. Rounding out the group, Jones had two goals, two earned ejections and a steal.

Overall, the Panthers had 14 different players score goals. After falling behind 2-0 early to PSU Behrend, Chapman placed the clamps down, giving up just six goals for the next 3.5 quarters.

Against Fresno Pacific, Chapman looked as strong as they've looked in 2025. The Panthers jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first quarter, and never wavered. Takahashi poured on another three goals to lead the Panthers. Castillo added another three assists and two goals. Matthew Cormican poured on another two goals.

In a gritty game, which involved what felt like more whistles being blown, than passes thrown, Chapman made a statement on day one of tournament play.

The Panthers will travel to Claremont, Calif. to play day two of the Gary Troyer Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 4 against Air Force and Wagner College.
