The Chapman University women's soccer team earned a key victory, 1-0 over Whittier on Saturday. The win propelled Chapman into fourth place in the SCIAC standings with matches still to be played Saturday night.
The Panthers honored their 10 seniors before the match:

Jasmine Whittington,
Jenna Urrabazo,
Jana Komposch,
Chaslyn Nestor,
Madeline Achkar,
Alyssa Hernandez and
Serena Lovell.
In the last five minutes of the match, senior
Jana Komposch gained possession of the ball. She slipped a pass behind the defense to senior star
Jenna Urrabazo, who fired it into the back of the net. Urrabazo's goal proved to be the winning goal of the game.
In a physical match throughout, possession consistently changed ends of the field as both teams fired off 14 shots.
The Panthers' defense anchored the team, denying any opportunity of a Whittier goal. Sophomore goal keeper
Bella Barretto shut down seven shots from Whittier offense, earning her sixth shutout of the season.
The Panthers look to continue the winning momentum in their last regular season game, hosting La Verne on Nov. 1 at 11 a.m.. A win over La Verne would solidify their spot in the SCIAC tournament, currently the Panthers overall record is 8-6-3 (5-4-2 SCIAC).
