Box Score ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman women's volleyball fell 3-1 against Pomona-Pitzer at home Friday evening. The Panthers took the second set 19-25 to tie the game up 1-1, before falling in four to the Sagehens. Chapman now sits at sixth in the SCIAC at 3-6 in conference play and 8-10 overall. The top five teams in the conference go to the SCIAC Tournament.
On the night,
Olivia Harrison and
Ava Bradbury had a combined eight blocks with Harrison recording five and Bradbury recording three to lead the Panthers defensively. Outside of that, Chapman struggled to get a handle on Pomona-Pitzer's Paige Mountanos who had a game high 19 kills.
Chapman's
Sammy Chambers led the way for the Panthers offensively with five aces and 21 assists, while
Kelsey Magley added another 14 assists and 11 digs on the night.
Pomona-Pitzer won the first set 25-22, after Chapman led the way in the set early. In the second set, the Panthers dominated to take their lone win. In the third set, the Sagehens won 25-18 after leading most of the way. During the fourth and final set, Chapman crawled back into the final game after being down 7-2 early, but ended up falling 25-20 to wrap up the match.
The Panthers will look to get back on track at Redlands on Weds., Oct. 21.
