ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's volleyball team swept visiting Caltech 25-11, 25-23, 25-20. The Panthers caught fire offensively, hitting .326 in the match. Chapman improved to 3-4 in the SCIAC with the sweep.
The Panthers commanded the court with an early win in the first set over Caltech. Senior Olivia Harrison led the charge with five kills and served the Panthers to a 5-1 lead to start the set. In the second set, Caltech kept the score tight with strong offensive attacks, resulting in a back-and-forth battle. The Panthers found their rhythm and pulled ahead late to take the 2-0 advantage. They carried that momentum into the third set, leading for the majority of the set and ultimately sweeping the match in three.
Offensively, Harison ended the match with 13 kills and four blocks. Brooke Leslie led the Panthers with 12 digs while Lia Ono had a total of 11. At the net, Ava Bradbury continued to be a force with seven blocks. While Chapman hit over-.300 in every set, Caltech hit just .123 for the match,
The Panthers reach the hallway point with a match at La Verne on Tuesday and return home on Friday to take on Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m.
