ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University swimming & diving teams dominated a dual meet with la Verne on Saturday. In the first meet of 2025, the Panthers won 25 of the 26 events.
The day started with McKenzie Abbott and Reid Omilian sweeping the diving competitions as both posted the top scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
The swim teams went on to win 23 of the 24 swim events for the dominant dual meet victories. Ryan Musich led the Low Tops with a pair of victories in the 1000 free and 200 breast. Mati Dixon finished first in all three of her events, winning the 1000 free in her only individual event. She also helped the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to event wins.
Sara Talmaci took first in the 500 free and second in the 200 free while also helping the 400 medley relay C team to a second place finish. Bianca Bayer claimed the 200 IM victory while also finishing third in the 500 free and helping both her relay teams to second-place finishes.
Cormac McShane swam a personal-best to take the top spot in the 200 back with a 2:01.20 while Zach Waddell led a 1-2-3 Chapman sweep of the 200 IM. Owen Ripley's season-best of 1:50.79 topped a 1-4 Chapman sweep of the 200 free.
The Panthers continue building toward the SCIAC Championships with another SCIAC dual at Occidental on Saturday. McKenzie Abbott, Gracie-Anne Fraunfelder, Reid Omilian and Jake Randazzo will also compete at the Lancer Diving Invite on Thursday and Friday.
