ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to visiting Whitman in a Sunday matinee. The Panthers were playing a tough back-to-back schedule, kicking off just 13 hours after ending with a draw last night.
Jonah Friang scored for the second time in less than 24 hours. He tied up the match less than four minutes into the second half when he beat the Whitman keeper after winning a ball in the middle of the field.
The Blues scored in the 33rd minute on a header from Fernando Lopez-Vega. Kevin Serrano sent in a rocket in the 73rd minute to give the Blues the 2-1 advantage and eventual victory.
Chapman shot 17 times for the second straight match, putting four on target. Whitman managed 14 shots but put six on goal as Patrick Bulubenchi made four saves for the Panthers.
The Panthers look to shake off a four match winless streak as they head into conference play on Wednesday. The open their SCIAC schedule with a pair of tough road matchups, traveling to Redlands on Wednesday and CMS on Saturday.
