CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team fell 22-5 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinal round of the SCIAC Tournament on Friday. The Panthers season comes to a close with the loss with a record of 14-12.
Alyssa Fricker scored four of Chapman's five goals to end the season with 96 goals – the third-most in program history. Fricker earned her second All-SCIAC award and is the leading scorer in Division III this season.
Fricker scored the first goal of the match but CMS scored the next four goals and continued to pull away to secure its spot in the SCIAC Championship on Sunday.
The Panthers did not score after the 6:39 mark in the third quarter when Fricker scored her fourth goal of the contest to make it 13-5. The Athenas went on to end the match with nine unanswered goals.
Georgina Burton made eight saves in the final match of her senior season, ending a breakout season that ended with All-SCIAC honors.
CMS moves on to the title match on Sunday but the Panthers historic season comes to a close after racking up eight SCIAC wins – the most in program history.
