ORANGE, Calif. – A seven-goal run to start the game proved to be more than enough as the Chapman University women's water polo team defeated visiting Macalester 15-6. The Panthers jumped back into the win column to improve to 6-8 on the season.
Alyssa Fricker scored 87 seconds into the match and the Panthers led the rest of the night as they cruised to a non-conference victory. Nine different Panthers scored in the match and Georgina Burton allowed just one goal in the first half.
After Fricker's opening goal, Chapman went on to build a 4-0 lead after the opening quarter and a 7-0 lead through the midpoint of the second quarter until Alana Nadolski put the Scots on the board. Chapman still led 9-1 at halftime and 12-3 after three quarters.
With the win, the Panthers split the day after an earlier loss to CMS. They play their next three matches on the road but return home on Mar. 27 to take on Caltech at 7 p.m.
