ORANGE, Calif. – For the second day in a row, the Chapman University men's tennis team came away with a victory – defeating Colby 8-1. The Panthers improved to 4-6 on the season with the win.
The Panthers' dominant performance started with a sweep of the doubles and continued into singles. After sweeping the doubles matches, Chapman clinched the match with straight set wins at the bookends of the lineup. Caleb Wilkins quickly won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 match and Danny Marsh won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
Colby captured first set victories on three different courts but Andy Hess, Aram Izmirian and Matthew Dewey each battle back to win in three sets.
Wilkins and Ian Jordan won 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles match with Lachlan Dickinson and Ben Jorgenson capturing the 8-6 win at No. 3. Izmirian and Kamerson DeHart combined for the 8-1 win at No. 2.
The Panthers were slated to open up SCIAC play with Cal Lutheran on Saturday but have postponed the match due to forecasted rain. They are next scheduled to take on Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, April 5 at 3 p.m. at the Anderson Tennis Center.
