ORANGE, Calif. — Women's water polo salvaged a split in day one of the Claremont Convergence, falling to Cal St. Northridge, 17-15 in OT, then bouncing back to beat Augustana, 9-8.

Alyssa Fricker's buzzer beating goal in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter notched the score at 13-13 heading into OT. In the final frame CSUN tacked on a pair of early goals to seal the victory.
Chapman hung tough with the No. 23 Matadors, leading by one at the end of the third. It was a defensive battle in the fourth as the teams combined for three goals in the final frame.Â
Fricker and Kendall Pappan led the way for the Panthers, both scoring five goals.
Augustana
The Panthers bounced back to beat Augustana, following the tough OT loss. Fricker dominated, scoring four goals, including the first two of the game. Pappan added two goals and Nicole Inoue scored her first goal of the season.
Chapman, despite winning by one, never trailed. The defense was stout, collecting six steals, while Georgina Burton added 11 saves in goal.Â
The Panthers will look to pick up two victories in day two of the convergence. They take on Concordia (Irvine) at 11:45 a.m. and Mount St. Mary's at 3:30 p.m. at Allred Pool.
