ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team defeated visiting Colorado College 7-2 on Friday to get back into the win column. The win boosted the Panthers to a 2-4 record over the first two weeks of their season.
Chapman swept all three doubles points with
Caleb Wilkins and
Ian Jordan winning 8-1 at the top of the lineup.
Lachlan Dickinson and
Ben Jorgenson won 8-2 on the No. 3 court and the Panthers took the early 3-0 lead.
Five singles matches were decided in straight sets although three had one set that needed a tiebreaker to be decided. Wilkins won 7-6, 6-1 and
Aram Izmirian won 7-6, 6-1 in a pair of Panther wins that helped clinch the team win. Matt Dewey and
Mac Caldwell also won in straight sets for the Panthers.
Chapman is back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. to host Middlebury.
