ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 22-5 win over visiting Edgewood in a Thursday matinee. Lyndsey Huss broke to Chapman records as she recorded seven assists and nine total points in the match.
Huss went into halftime just one assist shy of Chapman's single match mark and tied the record with Chapman's first goal of the third quarter – just one minute in. Three and a half minutes later she found Josie Morrissey in front of the goal for her sixth assist to set the new mark in program history.
With two goals in the first half, Huss also had tied Chapman's single match points record with eight. She assisted on another Morrissey in the fourth quarter to break the points record with her ninth for the match.
The Panthers quickly jumped out to a 10-goal lead as they scored 10 times in the first quarter and scored the first 11 goals of the match before cruising to the victory. The Panthers assisted on 19 of their 22 goals for 41 total points – the second-highest points total in Division III this season for a single match. The 19 total assists was also a school record for a single match and matches the most in a single match in Division III this season.
Chapman went 10-for-11 on clear attempts while limiting Edgewood to four successful clears on 22 attempts. Morrissey led the Panthers with six goals while Tade Scheid and Annika Carlson each scored a hat trick.
The Panthers hit a pause in the schedule during spring break but return to the field on Mar. 23 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for a 1 p.m. game and return home on Mar. 27 at 7 p.m. to take on Lewis & Clark in a non-conference matchup.
