Women's lacrosse cruises to season-opening win

ORANGE, Calif. – Interim head coach Delaney Benson picked up her first career win as the Chapman University women's lacrosse team opened the season with a 19-7 victory over Cal Lutheran. The Panthers cruised to the SCIAC victory behind a trio of four-goal performances.

Lyndsey Huss led the Panthers in the rout with four goals and three assists in the match to go along with three caused turnovers. Freshman Olivia also scored four times and assisted on two more goals. Ada Carr scored four goals as well. Josie Morrissey scored twice and distributed three assists.

The Panthers never trailed as they went up 6-0 to start the match with Annika Carlson scoring the first goal of the season while the Panthers were a player-down due to a green card. The Regals never came closer than five after the opening run but Bella Bravo made 10 saves. Anna Hereu made four saves while facing a limited number of shots.

The Panthers continue an early SCIAC schedule at nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and return home next Saturday to take on Occidental at 7 p.m.
