Orange, Calif.— Chapman women's basketball (3-5, 2-0 SCIAC) is beginning to build momentum in SCIAC play, as they clinched their second straight victory Saturday afternoon over Caltech (4-4, 0-2 SCIAC) 68-60 at home.
The Panthers led by as many as 15 points at seperate times during the game, while holding Caltech to just 34.6 percent shooting from the field. Meanwhile, the Panthers shot 38 percent from the three-point line while knocking down eight threes for the game.
Forward
Layla Woods notched yet another double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, six of them coming from the offensive end of the ball. Woods paired with her counterpart down low,
Shanna Brown who contributed 24 points and four rebounds on 10 of 17 shooting from the field.
The two-headed monster has been on a tear the last two games, in which they combined for nearly one half of their team's points in both recent victories.
Sophomore guard
Maile Nakaji knocked down three three-pointers and had 11 points on the day to go along with four assists.
The Panthers crashed the glass with vengence, outrebounding Caltech 43-35 leading to 26 second chance points while holding Caltech to just five.
